Bee Removal From Structures

Guidance for the property owner/manager in dealing with bee colony removal

The swarm hotline deals with swarms, exposed clusters of bees looking for a home. These bees can amass on tree branches, fire hydrants, and even the sides of buildings while they try to figure out where they will be moving to. Swarms need prompt intervention. Bees in structures are a wholly different problem, requiring a unique skill set and additional equipment for their safe removal.

Apis Rescue does not do removals from structures.

Commercial Removal Firms

In 2018, we trained members of Black Diamond Pest Controls staff in live bee removal. They are a fully licensed and insured pest control company and can legally handle any pest condition encountered, including yellow jackets. They only do live removals of bee colonies and do not spray bee colonies. They do not perform repairs. They can be reached at (812) 944-0453

Independent Removal Contractors

There are a number of independent owner-operator contractor-type operations that also provide cut-out services. These operations are not licensed sprayers and are often cheaper, but not as robustly insured.

Owner-operators generally do not carry workmen's compensation coverage (owners are allowed to ‘self-insure’). Contractors injured on an individual client’s personal property are usually their own problem, while injuries incurred on business property are subject to different liability rules.

Apis Rescue does not check insurance status or licensing compliance. Understand the risks and limitations: Buyer beware
